AT&T/SBC Is Dumb

with one comment

I get this call today (I am working from home) from SBC, who is my current internet provider, and they want to tell me about their new Elite DSL service. I had known about it, and so far it had not been available in my area. Since I can get my employer to reimburse me for internet access (although at $20 a month, I haven’t bothered in a while), I was reasonably excited by the prospect. However, after the SBC rep fumbled about for a moment looking up my details, it turns out that I am already on the fastest connection available in my area, the DSL Pro package. Let’s review that again: the Elite package is NOT available in my area, and I am already paying for the fastest service I can currently get from them. So why the call? I guess the phone company has nothing better to do with its time than call up its subscribers to offer them nonexistent (at least as far as my area is concerned) services. Way to go. What a waste of money. Thing is, I was ready to buy it!!!

  1. They do that in our area, too. And we, being extremely rural, get VERY excited by it. That’s why we don’t have SBC anymore. We have Eastern Arkansas something something. I like it better.
