My name is Aaron Helton, and this is my blog.

What else were you expecting? I expose my thoughts and interests in my blog, so go there instead.

Oh, but possibly you wanted more info about me? Information you couldn’t have pieced together from my blog entries?

Ok, so I am married with two kids. I am a systems administrator for a smallish software services company. I live in Austin, TX. My free time is spent largely with my family, although since I started attending graduate school in the evenings, that free time is highly variable. My hobbies include computers, role-playing games, woodworking, and reading. This is in no way an exhaustive list. I am a hopeless technophile, and would probably die from withdrawal if you were to remove me from my technology. I read tech news incessantly. I like to write web applications, and occasionally post things about them on my blog.

Want more? You’ll have to ask nicely. Or, go check out my resume.

For now, you can also view my LinkedIn page.

And if you can’t get enough, I am on Digg, Facebook, and Twitter as well.

I have a wealth of external information on the sidebar, including links to other people’s sites and blogs and some periodically updated lists of things I am reading, doing, and saying out there in the InterWeb.

If you have reached this site looking for Aaron Helton (a common enough search term, though not the one that brings the most traffic, alas), consider reviewing the resume link above to make sure I am the Aaron Helton you are looking for.  I am not, for instance, the musician of the same name, nor am I the OK National Guard MP, the screen actor, or the newcomer who seems to have some similar interests as mine.  I am pretty sure that’s a nearly-exhaustive list of others who share my name, are alive, and have some presence on the Web.  If I missed any, leave a comment 🙂

  3. Couple of things.

First, it’s about friggin’ time. You think *I* am the hard one to track down? According to some statistics site for names, there’s only like 75 people in the US that have my name. I’m sure you can imagine how many people share your name, and how it’s several orders of magnitude more difficult to find you than it is to find me (I also have the advantage of knowing where I am).

Second, guess you missed my recent update, where I mentioned the whole laid off thing. Other than that, yeah, I am doing well.

If you’re on any of the social networks, you can either find me as mariusagricola, aaronhelton, or abhelton depending on the network. I’ll email you anyway.

  4. Aaron F’ing Helton.

I have tried numerous times over the last 10 years to track you down. Just to find out what ever happened to you. Trying to remember marius.agricola (I think it was) has not been easy.

Looks like you are doing well.

Drop me a line when you have a chance. My current work is significantly your fault.

All because some guy wanders into my barracks room in Ft. Gordon, GA looking to install a Microsoft mouse driver on his laptop running Linux.

I have quite the memory for BS,

  5. Dear Aaron
When i first found that page about Phd. i just treated it as any page on the net, but as i got that replay from you, i got more interestred and appreciating for what you have done, maybe you don’t know about me yet. I’m also an Information Systems and Software Engineer, i gained the chevening scholarship (which is the scholarship for potential leaders) from the British Councel, and just Finished my Masters Degree in “Management and Information Systems: Change and development” at the University of Manchester. as i’m interseted in e-Government for more than 4 years, i’m looking for the suitable place where i can conduct my research in this area …
i hope this will tell something about me.
it is my pleasure to meet you
    Kind Regards
    Gaz
